About an hour ago I was sitting at my laptop in the den when I heard two loud BANGS on the bay window in the breakfast room. I went to investigate and found two birds lying on my deck. I thought one was dead because it was on its back, but it was just stunned. I gently turned it right side up and it flew away about 15 minutes later. The other one is still there, though, and shows no inclination to fly although it doesn't seem badly injured. I think its shoulder might be hurt though (if birds can be said to have shoulders but anyway). Night is coming on and it's going to get cold, so I put it in a small box with a hand towel and am waiting to hear back from a local wildlife rescue person for advice.

Let's hope the little guy (I think it's male) makes it!
Oh, it's a Robin btw. I'm both glad and sorry that it's not 's Robin...that would have been...umm...odd.

UPDATE: I found a local wildlife rescue person who met me in a nearby shopping center and took the bird in. He said it looked like it had a head injury and might take a week to recover, but that the chances of it getting well were pretty good. So yay.
